I have family coming down for Xmas and he wants me to take him ice fishing. Anybody think the berry will have safe ice by then?

Most likley. I imagine it will be iced up around the edges good enough to do some safe fishing. If not, there will be a couple other places iced over, and fishing excellent by then.

I'm sure once the ice starts to set, you will find no problem finding a partner from here to go!!! C'mon ice!!!!:)

I'll take you if you don't mind walking? 50-50 chance Strawberry will have enough ice to fish on.
New Years day, I'll be having my 5th annual ice fishing festival. We have done Scofield twice, Fishlake once, and Strawberry last year. Let me know.

As mentioned Scofield is usually the first safe ice, maybe two to three weeks ahead of Strawberry. Huntington will likely freeze over a little before Scofield, but if it has stormed recently the road can be quite trechorous. (Last year on our way up there we saw a County Truck, snow plow and salter on it's side on the shoulder of the road.) Plus ice fishing last year on Huntington was poor at best. I usually figue Safe Ice on Strawberry around New Years Day.

If the Berry isn't iced, go to scofeild. Usually, Huntington gets drawn down once it's iced by the Huntington Power company, and it has about 5 inches of air between the ice and water. Very dangerous. Plus at Scofeild, you have a definate chance of getting into a very large trout.

Up at the top of Spanish Fork canyon, by the White River, there's a turn off for it. Also, from the Electric Lake area on the side of the boat ramp, you go over the pass, by the mine, and into the town of Scofeild. The state park I think its called Mountian Veiw, was where I nailed em earlier this year. Its the one over by the dam. Hope this helps!!:)

You head south on hwy 6 out of Spanish fork. It is about 65 miles from the I-15/hwy 6 exit. The entrance sits in between Soldier Summit and I-70 follow the road until you run into Scofield Res. We usually hit it the 1st 2 saturdays before xmas. You want to see fishing pressure. Show up at noon on saturday the 20th, there will about 1,000 people. Get up there early before dawn!
