Hi there guys,

The California section of the west coast, especially southern California, sure is slow to get going. The rockfish fishing is steady, salmon are being caught in fair numbers up north, the WSB bite is slow, barracuda migration is late with just teaser flurries, and yellowtail are staying down south of the border!

Truth is.... the sand bass bite is starting to pick up and we could get an early suprise sand bass spawn this year! Pure Speculation though!

I'm ready when they are. I just want to catch some big boys and get some big points with minimal table fare.

Hey there TubeN2,

There is a slight problem on the 'fish to eat deal'. The calicos are red hot right now and they are a fantastic eating fish.

Most people don't particularly like sand bass once they've tried other fish like WSB or even calicos. Also sand bass that have spawned out are not very tasty so it's best to get them at the early stage of their run.

Problem: Once wifey has tasted calicos ........ then is given sand bass......she'll most likely put in an exclusive order for the sportcoats!

On the other hand ...... you're and expert cook so ....
