Today was fun. My brother and I went trout fishing below a small dam. The creek at this point is about 100 yards wide and its pretty deep below the falls as this creek goes. He started out with inline spinners and I was using my Gulp Grubs. We both caught a creek chub (big minnow) then he catches a 9" trout. We go to useing the worms we had because it has getting warm and they looked like they were dieing. anyway a few more chubs later he says he's ready to go back to spinners because nothing is biting. He no sooner says that and he hooks and lands a real nice 20" trout. Not long after I hook something, something BIG! It turned out to just be a carp but it was a great half to three quarter hour battle using a 4 1/2' ultralight and 4# line. Didn't measure or weight it but it was at least 36" long and really heavy. Thought it was goin to break my rod a coupe times. Work it in, watch it peel line back out like I had no drag. I was goin to release anything today so it didn't matter what kind of fish it was. That was one good battle! I know it tired out my arm and hand.
Another great day off!!!
